Post detox tips
For those who have completed the Clean 9 detox, well done! Here are some recommendations/advice to help you maintain the 'new' you.
1.) Try to incorporate some kind of exercise every day. Even if it's a 20-minute brisk walk during your lunch hour or walk your dogs (or kids) after work. Whenever it's sunny, I take my little one on the stroller and do a hike down the reservoir. On rainy days, I go to the gym (even though I find it insanely boring) and do 45-minute cardio of the stationery bike or treadmill.
2.) Eat healthy. Include loads of green leafy and yellow vegetables & fruits. These are considered "powerhouses" in your meals and serve up some of nature's finest nutrients. When eaten cooked or raw, they supply plenty of constipation-countering fibre. Here are some examples of powerhouses: carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach, brocoli, pumpkin, cantoloupe, papaya, peaches
3.) Calcium. Calcium intake is particularly crucial in women. Women begin to lose bone mass in their thirties and getting adequate calcium daily will ensure continued bone health and prevent osteoporosis later in life. Some examples of hi-calcium foods: milk, yoghurt, calcium fortified drinks - soy and juice, sardines, salmon, sesame seeds, bak choi, almonds, broccoli, cheese
4.) Water, water everywhere. At least 8 glasses a day - that should be your daily cleanse.
5.) Eat smart. If you want to maintain your weight, find out how much your daily intake should be, according to your height and weight. I use the "Calorie count" on my iphone. When you cook, you can replace healthier ingredients for higher-calorie foods without feeling guilty! Check out this article!
I ALWAYS have my breakfast (bran cereal with a handful of granola with skimmed milk). Great way to start the day. I need my breakfast to be able to function well and take care of my children. I also try to have my carbohydrates during the day. I love soba noodles and I usually have them cold. Sometimes, if I'm on the run, I just have my Forever protein shake with a banana as snack. Nutritious and filling.
My dinners vary from a big salad (lots of leaves accompanied by some kind of protein i.e. grilled salmon, lean piece of organic chicken breast, canned tuna) to hot meals such as chicken meatballs with gluten-free pasta, red rice with green curry, fried soba with chicken, or some kind of stir-fry with veggies. Please refer to my "600-calorie meals" page.
If you want to eat rice/pasta for dinner, I would choose rice pasta or red/brown rice. They are healthy and would not bloat you.
6.) Take your supplements/vitimans! Apart from your diet, extra supplements will enhance the quality of your digestive and immune system!
7.) You can always consider the Nutri-lean program which is a follow-up program from the Clean 9. It focuses on a diet with reduced calorie intake. With the help of our infamous aloe vera and other supplements, you will be able to maintain your new weight, and even shed more pounds from this program. Contact me for more information.
