Here is a before and after photo of Richard's (my co-worker's husband) work colleague comparing Day 1 & Day 7 of the Clean 9 Cleanse. His aim was to burn some fat fairly quickly on the plan.
He has lost 4kg (so far) and is a great example of how this plan also works extremely well for men! As you can see from the photos the weight he has lost seems to be mostly fat.
How?
- I advised him to make sure the majority of the calories for his 600 calorie meal were protein (the rest vegetables) AND to do some heavy weight training for his exercise. This meant he maintained his muscle during the plan and therefore very little of the overall weight he lost (if any) was muscle.
- Drink lots & lots of water to compensate for the food he is NOT eating (normal daily intake of food contains a lot of water) and therefore minimises any of the weight he lost as water.
So if your goal is to lose FAT on the Cleanse (male or female), follow the above tips and also the post-detox tips to keep it off! ; )

I would like to share my before and after pictures with you. I gave birth to my second child last July and have found it much harder second time round to lose my baby fat!!! I changed my diet and exercised and by January this year I managed to get down to 10st which is roughly a stone over what I usually weigh. Today at day 10, it's time to share my experience with everyone! I haven't updated throughout the detox, as admittedly I've been skeptical as to whether it works at all or how well it works. I have to say, I cannot praise this detox enough! I haven't actually weighed myself today however I started at 55kg and was looking to lose the last 3kg of baby weight which I'd almost given up hope of losing but I'm ECSTATIC to say that I may not have weighed myself but take a look at the picture (apologies for anyone eating their breakfast right now! :)) and see for yourself!
So a quick run down:
Day 1 - like giving up smoking all over again! Hated it - exhausted, could NOT stop thinking about food, headache, felt cold and general feeling of 'what am I doing?'
Day 2 - felt MUCH better! Energetic, stopped thinking about food and looked forward to the delicious milkshake, and of course who'd have thought I'd be so excited about taking my 11'sies, Bee Pollen pills!
Day 3 - I quite literally had THE BEST tomato salad of my life at lunchtime and dinner was salmon, brocolli and carrots (oh, a very usual dinner for me!). Felt completely back to normal, although the coffee withdrawals are still quite high at this stage (3 capucino's a day would do that to you I suppose!)
Day 4 - Day 7 - a doddle! Enjoyed smacks of blueberries, a few almonds, apple, kiwi, goji berries, had my daily tomato salad which surprisingly wasn't as amazing as my taste buds returned in full swing over these days, and dinners consisted of varieties of salmon, fish, chicken fajitas (low calorie wrap) and other chicken dishes with veg.
Day 8 - Coffee withdrawal and cake withdrawal quite serious today! Walked in to Pacific Coffee, took a photo of the counter and sent it to Kate and said "You better tell me to leave right now or coffee and cake coming up"! She immediately wrote back "OUT - only 1 more day to go" and so that was that, out I came. THANKS KATE!
Day 9 - Looked in the mirror and was completely AMAZED!! I LOOKED AMAZING!! haha For the first time in 2 years I'm looking more how I used to look, pre-baby, which I thought was never going to happen again! Text Kate to come over and take a photo quickly, she was round in 5 mins!
Day 10 - feel amazing, skin glowing (according to some), feeling so happy that I can now fit into my pre-preggers work clothes (comfortably), and ready for a 12 hour flight! One thing I am in shock about though, I took my usual Garcinia pills, my usual shake (yummy) and don't feel like running to Pacific Coffee for my skinny Cap! Could I be a changed lady, let's see!

I decided to give clean 9 detox a try, mainly because of the fact that I've gained close to 20lb for the past 6 months and I was starting to feel unhealthy. I had my worries when i first started because, like many other people in HK, my schedule is quite hectic and unpredictable, and I might have a hard time keeping up with the meal schedule. I quickly found out on the first day, however, that my busy schedule actually helped my fight against any craving, mainly because it totally kept my mind away from anything food related. Day 10: Clean 9 completed! I used this cleanse to get rid of my Christmas bulge as I over indulged during the festive period and also a break over NY to Dubai. I had gained approx 6 pounds and felt very uncomfortable in my trousers and jeans when returning to HK. I also felt really run down and dehydrated, generally rubbish!! Its been a very busy week for me and unfortunately I haven't done that much exercise. I did run 3 miles this morning which I found surprisingly easy! Day 1-2 I got though, I knew it was going to be hard so I distracted myself as much as possible. I found Days 3-9 much easier and they are not far off what I do in day to day life. I drink Aloe Vera everyday and also have a shake most days (with banana and peanut butter) I have lost about 5lbs and back into my trousers which are lose around my waist. I'm back into a good routine not even missed coffee!!!

Summary of the detox: lost 5 pounds, most around the mid section! Skin is healthier and glowing! The first 2 days were tough - I had a headache for most of day 1 and was craving food a lot! I took on the clean 9 detox with much trepidation as my willpower is usually incredibly lacking when it comes to food. The initial two day fast took a lot of determination, but recovery from a broken ankle had meant no exercise for 2 months and some drastic action needed to be taken!
The first 2 days were tough, especially the second and by that night I "knew" I would eat my entire 600 cals for breakfast! But much to my surprise after having my (delicious) chocolate shake for breakfast I just wasn't that hungry. I had a tuna salad for lunch and it kept me going till my evening shake.
I decided to have my main meal for lunch everyday and this worked well for me. I made sure my meals were less than 600 cals and this allowed a mid-morning snack (apple or nuts) and a pudding (fruit or rice cakes) after my evening shake.
This meant I never felt completely deprived or too hungry for long during the next phase of the cleanse.
There were definitely hunger pangs at various times during the next 7 days but they were surprisingly few and far between. I drank a lot of water as recommended and it made me realise a lot of my hunger was actually thirst.
At the end of the 9 days I have lost a total of 6lbs. I feel healthy, I feel lighter, my skin is clear and my clothes from a week ago actually fit! I couldn't be more pleased with the end result.
But perhaps more importantly I feel I have a new healthier relationship with food. I've stopped eating all the children's leftovers and i now stop and think before I put food in my mouth. Long may this continue... In fact I'm so pleased I woke up on day 10 and have carried on with the supplements and shake from the clean 9 pack. I just finished the C9 detox. I lost 2.5 kilos during the 9 days and have continued to lose weight since. If you're motivated to lose weight, eat more healthily and take more care of yourself then the C9 is a great springboard. It's not plain sailing, its actually quite tough especially the first couple of days. But I think the effort required is what keeps you focused. After day one there's that feeling that you got this far you don't wanna give up now. So the challenge comes with a daily sense of satisfaction and this motivates you to continue. To be honest I never felt massively hungry. You get used to it quite quickly and I think the supplements do a fantastic job of giving your body what it needs to get you through. I now feel lighter, slimmer and a whole lot better. Going through the effort of the program leaves you wanting to continue along the same path. I now find myself questioning what I eat. Taking a note of the ingredients and the nutritional information. I've started exercising again. I'm now trying the 5:2 fast diet which claims to have long term health benefits. Again it's a challenge and I think completing the C9 sets you up and gives you a better chance to succeed. Why would I want to go through the program to throw it all away now?

I now feel lighter, slimmer and a whole lot better. Going through the effort of the program leaves you wanting to continue along the same path. I now find myself questioning what I eat. Taking a note of the ingredients and the nutritional information. I've started exercising again. I'm now trying the 5:2 fast diet which claims to have long term health benefits. Again it's a challenge and I think completing the C9 sets you up and gives you a better chance to succeed. Why would I want to go through the program to throw it all away now?
